Christmas Preparations

I happened to come in early today here at work, and thought I'd squeeze in a quick blog update before I start at 9 a.m.

Thanksgiving wasn't a whole lot of fun at our house this year because our daughter, grandson, and I were all sick! We had to stay home, and we totally missed all of the festivities including 2 family dinners. Darn it. At least my hubby was able to attend both meals and was kind enough to bring us all home plates full of the Thanksgiving fixins so we could enjoy them too. Thankfully, the 3 of us are feeling better now, and we're certainly hoping we'll be able to enjoy the upcoming Christmas family gatherings!

I can't believe it's December already. Only 3 weeks left until Christmas. This year has certainly flown by!

It seems like only yesterday that our grandson was born in May of this year, and now he'll be 7 months old on December 10th. We are truly enjoying watching him learn new things every day and he brings so much joy into our lives. :-)

Tom enjoyed his hunting trip in mid-November, but he didn't get anything. His oldest brother got one though. I don't know how anyone can shoot a Bambi. They are just such gorgeous animals.

How are all of you doing on your Christmas shopping? We haven't even started yet, but that's par for the course for us. Seems like we always have to wait until December 15 or later for some extra money to roll in. Or maybe it's not extra. It's more like we put off a couple of bills until January so we can have Christmas money. LOL Yep, that sounds more like us.

We'll be going to cut down our Christmas tree on December 9 at a tree farm about 1.5 hours north of our house. Jason, Angela & Dante will be going with us. A friend recommended this place as they have beautiful trees (all firs) that are really affordable--all trees only $40. This will be the first time in probably 3 years we've put up a tree as we've always been too worried that our 3 cats would knock it over. We're still worried about that now, but with a grandson in the picture, we want him to experience seeing a decorated and lit tree in our house. Also for him to find his gifts beneath it on Christmas morning. We'll just have to tie some twine to the walls or ceiling in order to keep the cats from knocking it over.

That's the latest news at our house! Hope things are going well at yours!

  1. Yes we missed you guys at Thanksgiving! Plus we didn't get our Dante fix! Better go through your house with lysol to make sure all are well for Christmas! My Christmas shopping is about half done which is a record for me. I always struggle with the guys gift for our family exchange! Check out my blog because I joined Holidailies and now I have to post every single day in the month of December!

  2. So glad you are all feeling better. It's so difficult to get better with the weather changing every single day, or at least that's the way it is here. I ended up doubling my antibiotic meds, and got to feeling better sooner. :)

Well, I got a small tree this year as we have Rylan, and she gets into EVERYTHING!! Hunter was happy with what we've done, and that counts for a lot.

    Try to stay well!

No, I've not even thought about shopping yet (have to wait and see how things go). But, for sure the girls will have Santa. :)

  3. Well, I guess I should have mentioned, the tree is sitting on top of the buffet. LOL

  4. Oh dear, so sorry to hear that some of you were sick on Thanksgiving! Glad you're all feeling better and getting ready for Dante's first Christmas. Have fun decorating the tree. :)

  5. It's no fun to be sick during the holidays! Glad you are going better now. We don't do much local shopping these days. Thank goodness for the internet, LOL! I've been procrastinating on my cards, but so far nobody has sent one to me yet. So I'm not going to worry about it for now. Best wishes with those cats not destroying the tree, LOL!

  6. As a family we use to go cut down a tree and bring it home. The kids are now all gone to places away so we just put up our artificial tree. They were good memories. Our one cat messed with climbing the tree a few times and then it just got use to it and left it alone. That flu stuff or cold stuff is the pits. We had a couple of bouts of something from what i catch at school. The young guy is a lot of fun and they grow up so fast so it will be fun to have him see the glowing tree. Take care all of you.

  7. Hey Debbie!

Just checking in. Did I read on FB that Tom is sick? That's a bummer for sure, and I hope the rest of you
    don't catch whatever it is.

Take care, and someday maybe you'll have time to make another post. (hint hint) I enjoy reading what's going on with you guys. But I know how busy you are. I'm probably the least busy of anyone at this moment (I hate to actually write that down 'cause who knows what could come next.) :)
