It's Raining, It's Pouring

Well, friends, it's raining cats and dogs outside right now, and it has been for hours! I am SO hoping the rain doesn't change over to freezing rain, which the weathermen have predicted for us overnight. My daughter and I have a shared doctor appointment in the morning (standard, annual tests...nothing serious), and we'd like to get there on time, and in one piece!

Speaking of our daughter, we are so tickled that she is enjoying her new job at a nearby veterinarian hospital and is learning TONS of new stuff there every day. However, some of the things she sees are pretty gross. Today for example, she took two of her/our cats to work with her in order to check to see if they had worms (one does; the other doesn't). Of course, she had to go after a stool sample from each of them (doesn't even SOUND like fun to me), then spread the...er...poo on a slide, add a solution to it, and view it under a microscope. Apparently, right when she put her eye on the microscope lens, a giant parasite of some sort moved upward toward the lens, and she let out a YELP (and jumped backwards) that made everyone in the back office jump too. ROFL  Whatever that thing was, there were lots of them in the sample, and neither Angela, nor her co-workers (including the veterinarian) could identify them. Oh, great. We now know that one of our cats has been invaded by aliens. Just what we needed to hear. In any event, Angela will now attempt to take another...er...sample at home so that it can be sent to a lab for further study and, hopefully, an identification of the parasite along with a treatment regimen. YUCK!

My hubby, Tom almost got into a car accident on his way home from work today. He's not really sure what happened. All I know is that when I answered my ringing cell phone, I heard, "Hi, honey," and then a long screeching of brakes, tires, etc. Next thing he said was, "Oh man, I almost hit that guy! He pulled over in front of me, his car was sideways, and I thought for sure I was going to hit him. I don't know how I DIDN'T hit him!" Thank you, Lord, for keeping my hubby safe from harm today. WHEW!

  1. Glad Angela is enjoying her job, parasites and all! And glad Tom didn't get into a serious accident. Gotta watch out for moron drivers! This rain made a rough drive to work this morning!

  2. We got a mix of snow, sleet, rain, but mostly a wet, heavy snow here (St. Clair County). Have already lost a couple of tree limbs in the yard and hoping the wind doesn't pick up. Glad your husband was able to avoid an accident. What a scare!
    Safe driving to you!
